26 years ago the
Small Industries Group Business Forum was set up in Bridgwater.
Over time, it became known as SIG Business Forum,
with a logo showing an acorn.
SIG,
of course, meant nothing to new members and in any case the
term small industries does not reflect the membership,
many of whom are not in industry and some of whom are not
small.
Accordingly, in 2002
the Committee decided on a new image for the organisation
using the skills of the members engaged in graphic design
and copywriting.
The name Advantage
SouthWest was unanimously selected as portraying the
upbeat, dynamic nature of the organisation in the new century.
A new logotype was
commissioned, designed and approved. The chosen design has
three elements, a symbol reflecting the energy of Advantage
SouthWest and its geographical position, a typographic version
of the name and a strap line doing the business
underlining what Advantage SouthWest is about.
A fresh corporate
style incorporating the new logotype is being implemented
on all stationery and promotional literature, exhibition display
panels, the website, business gifts, news releases/advertising.
